Cornerstone Visit

10th Dec 2019

The children in our P6/7 class this afternoon made the short journey down to the Cornerstone Centre in Main Street Beragh to entertain the people who attend there.  This has been an annual pre-Christmas visit for P6/7 pupils for many years now, and is an outing which is enjoyed by the young people as much as it clearly is also by the elderly people in attendance.

The children decided on their own acts and spent a great deal of time practising (in between the practices for our Christmas show!!).  The result of this only confirmed once again how much talent we have within our school. The children’s acts ranged from Irish Dancing and instrumental music to reciting poetry, telling jokes, to a fantastic gymnastics display and even a rousing rendition of ‘Hit the Diff!’

After their performances, the children enjoyed well earned refreshments of juice and crisps provided by the staff of the Cornerstone.  Thanks again to the staff for providing these. Finally the children then spent time talking with the people who attend this important community facility, providing the opportunity for some wonderful inter-generational discussion, which was again enjoyed by all.  One pupil even had the opportunity to see and chat with his great-granny, which he really enjoyed.

Well done to all the children for once again bringing the spirit of Christmas to the Cornerstone.
