The P5 children recently finished off their ‘Mighty Me’ topic. They made a model of human lungs to see a visual representation of how our lungs work. They used plastic bottles, balloons and tape for this model.
The children found out that when they pulled the bottom balloon down, the balloon inside the bottle (acting as one lung), filled up with air. We talked about this is the same with humans; when we breathe in our lungs fill with air and our diaphragm moves down.
